wow, its not what you think hahaha. the main objective of the report is to talk to studio owners, builders and see what they recommend. What they use. Its not like someone is doing my repost ahahha this is just part of research. I found my "location" now just need to talk to a few studio owners and see what they recommend as far as equipment.

yall can be so silly sometimes!

Those are very general boundaries to build a studio with. Are we talking hardware, ergonomics, aesthetics, acoustics?
Not that I'd have any decent suggestions!

The fact that you have asked this question tells me (and a few others by the looks of those replies above!) some interesting facts:

1. You do not read any pro-audio magazines (God knows, there are enough of them!)

2. You are not really interested in the subject, or you would know the answers 1000 times over.

3. You do not come fom the industry or have any contacts within the industry.

4. You are so lazy that you hope that some sap in a forum will do your homework for you.

5. You even lack the initiative to surf the web and look at the kit list and-or articles about the World's leading studios and work out the answers for yourself.

6. Your college lecturer is the kind of idiot who trots out this completely pointless assignment and is also not from the industry.

7. You are right at the beginning of your so-called studies and there is still time to quit and do something that you are really interested in and have an aptitude for.

You are only young once and for a very short time. Please don't throw it away on something that can only lead to a life time of shelf-stacking at Walmart.

priceless !!!

why would anyone want (even a theoretical) list for a studio-built-project from someone
who´s NOT a studio-designer,acoustics consultant & studio consultant ???

this is major BULLSHIT, please go & tell this your teacher asap, it clearly shows he´s not really "into-it"

now seriously.....this task is a JOB, people study years long and built up a reputation from ground up through many many projects...and still they do often not come to the same conclusions...so the answer would be....take 50.000,- or more from that 1m $ and HIRE a professional!

cheers tom

Not if, by posting, I can stop one poor sap from wasting their time and their parent's money on some course that offers little or no real education and no chance of a career afterwards.

Steve just gave what i feel is the best possible advice that could have been given.
to be honest you could spend a million dollars on a empty studio, it would all be dependent on what you wanted.
lets face it a cassette deck and a couple radio shack mics would give you a studio, so were do you want to go from their.
i would probably spend a large majority of the money on the room.
the room i feel is one of if not the most important part of the chain, ( and once again it is all preferences and what you are going for ).

PAGUY07 goes to Full Sail, I assume, because when I was there we had the exact same project. The issue I have though is that we had an enormous amount of resources available to us, in terms of spec sheets, books on studio construction, soundproofing, power issues, etc. It was actually a pretty cool project (though not extremely realistic), but the people who did well were the ones that actually researched, instead of writing a poorly worded plea for other people to do the leg work for them.

maybe it's a prank - a new twist on "hey, I've got 50k. Help me spend it."

Or maybe it's a sociology professor making a crafty request down to the typical college student mistakes in punctuation and grammar in order to evaluate our responses as part of a study on the way people respond to requests for help on the internet.

Or maybe he's the next brilliant engineer who has precociously mastered the technique of delegating work to others while barely an intern himself.

Or maybe it's Jules pulling our chains.

Or maybe

Or...

Do you think your post is any selfish/self-centred?

When it comes to studio construction I would really focus on making the control room acoustics great. I would hire a very good audio acoustics technician to design it. I would spend something like this:

650 000$ on control room design and construction
350 000$ on recording room design and construction

There are better forums for basic questions like these. A lot of forums have such basic stuff as "What does a preamp do?" or " How does my microphone connect to my computer?'

Forums like that would be a better match for the thread starter.
