New question on the reflection filter

I had a oppotunity to check it out at Guitar Center.

1. This thing is heavy and it seems that a normal stand would have a hard time with it.

2. If you put the mic just inside the filter, for it to be more effective you have to sing closer toward the filter. This could increase the proxmity effect of the mic which is not a good thing.

3. Is it's main purpsoe to absorb your vocals or to block the waves in the room from coming into the mic? It seems like the answer is both, but again, I can't for example only be 3 inches from my 4033, I need to be further away and when I am, my voice goes through the room more. Even so, I do hear a small improvement with the deading sound in the mic compared to not having it at all.

4. It seems best to have a decent amount of acoustic panels on the walls to absorb the sound freq's. Though the reflection filter can help.

I agree. It's better to have absorption on the reflecting surfaces. Or surround the singer with large panels as in the photo below.
