Get any cool presents?

I got the book ''Through the glass'' by David Massey - interviews with hit maker producers.....

Just what I wanted!

With Winney The Poo on TV entertaining my girlfriends sisters kids and 2 hours to go for Xmas lunch - I think I will start reading it!

In my stocking, I found this really cool precursor to diamonds.
Its black and oddly shaped and I am told it would put out a lot of heat if burned!

It is so versatile, it can be used as a weapon, a paperweight, a heat scource, a doorstop, or a future jewel...

Very cool gift.

The other was the usual boring stuff; socks, underwear, a tie (like I'll ever wear that), a fully reconditioned Helios board.

Ok, I lied about the board... probably will get more of that diamond precursor next year.

Happy Holidays!

Well I didn't get any recording gear this year, but I did get a round trip plane ticket to Italy for this summer! Of course a few other odds and ends too, and like every year, several DVDs (which I already owned ) I think socks are probably the no.1 christmas gift though.

Jules, I've not heard of that book. Do you know where to pick one up? I'd be interested to check it out.

Happy Holidays everyone!

A couple of shirts, a biography of Riders In The Sky, a DVD of Pirates of the Carribean, and a framed picture of Winnie the Pooh (along with a US stamp in the same frame honoring Walt Disney)

And a very, very quiet day.

Got a 20 Gig IPod too with the Belkin mic input option to transform it as a dictaphone. Bought myself some small Koss Portapro headphones and just love the combo.

i got the book "i just wasn't mabe for these times - brian wilson and the making of pet sounds", by charles granata. seems pretty cool. i had a very quick flick through and it discusses mic selection, technique, etc, so it could be a good read.

i also got a membership ticket to my afl club, essendon. my wife, brother, mum and dad all got tickets and reserved seats for this season as well.

I got a copy of Michael Moore's "Dude! Where's my Country?" A brilliant insight into the whole post 9/11 mess America has got itself into. (And yes, I'm a conservative.)

Other than that, just the usual socks & sweatpants. My wife refuses to buy me studio goodies, because the way the tax laws work here in Canada.

I got to see my two brothers, one of whom is guitar tech/rhythm guitarist for Godsmack, and the other is guitar teching for both Weezer and Audioslave, and we had a little jam session with some of the dopest vintage guitars on the planet.

Then me and my dad donned crazy hats and danced around my mom's house singing songs alternately in German and Spanish, half-drunk.

Then, we all donned coats, and went out walking around my parent's neighborhood, singing and shouting like a bunch of drunkin crazy idiots.

But it was REALLY cold out, so we all went back indoors, and proceeded to get SERIOUSLY drunk.

Somewhere in between all that we ate an amazing buffet meal my moms prepared.

Then I came back to the Curve Lab with a gift: Led Zeppelin DVD, which I watched while proceeding concurrently to get even more drunk...until I ran out of booze. DAMN! I'm halfway through Knebworth Festival, and out of booze?? On Christmas night? NO! IT CAN'T BE!

So the hat and the coat I grab, and out into the cold December night in search of reinforcements I go.

Don't you know...there...just one and a half blocks from the Curve Labs...a bar is open! YEAH! There IS a God!

Long story short: The Curve got drunk on Christmas. So please don't call me too early tomorrow morning.

Otherwise...

Happy Holidaze!!!

Well, that's one thing I wanted but didn't get. I'm not complaining though, I did get a Stedman pop filter, 30 new patch cords, two BLUE Cranberry mic cables, a used Antares Mic Modeler and 2MB PCMCIA card for my Eventide's.

A singing bowl and finger cymbals, both from Nepal. Both sound amazing, though I can't figure out where to mount a Bigsby on either one.

I also found a near-mint Roland Space Echo right before Christmas, partially funded by holiday gift $$$ from parents.

Best thing was a nice and relatively quiet day at home wth the wife and kids.

Damn, I didn't get ANY socks.......but I did get a wicked cool Hawaiian shirt.

But our big gift to each other was an in-town vacation at the Four Seasons near Beverly Hills; 3 nights of pampering, drinking and eating to excess. Check out tomorrow is coming up way too soon!

The new year looks like it's retrieving me from the studio tan (just after I finish mixing another album for my label) and throwing me into a two month club-tour tan-land so Santa brought me a few things to ease life on the road...

A portable fridge to help keep all the excesses of our tour-rider fresh - mainly beer and cheese. This IS Europe after all.

And from my 6 year-old daughter - a Homer Simpson pen that shines a light from the tip so I can write letters in the dark.

I'm set.
