i have to tell you this was a leap of faith for me, but i emailed Mixed Logic and got an almost immediate response from Kevin there, he gave very detailed andswers to my questions. i have emailed him a few times since then and gotten back replies within hours. to me that is some nice support, so far.

i am going to use it with Sonar and Reaper, and a little with SAW. i researched this alot and like everyone couldn't find alot on them. but for a couple hundred more then the new MCU and 2 XT's, the all in one unit is more appealing for me, with one USB cable vs all the midi cables, even into the back of the new Mackie units.

time will tell if this risk paid off. it does have alps faders and very very in depth custom temlates for Sonar and other DAW's.

so here's hoping!
Let us know how this thing works out.

I certainly will

i also should add i ordered it from sweetwater and the cool thing is they are custom made, in the US by mixed logic per order. menaing they will only be building mine and then they thoroughly test it before shipping. then there is support after for any issues

i guess to me things like that are worth the extra couple of hundred.

i will give an in depth report on build quality and any issues i run into. they seem to be a quiet company that doesn't advertise alot.

Since the D8B use's hui protocol, only 8 of the faders can be used to control the daw. Too bad because they would make excellent control surfaces if all the faders could be accessed.

This is pretty low-end but, how about a mouse and one of these: Frontier AlphaTrack or Presonus Faderport? 3x MCU was outta my budget so at one point I considered US2400. With no LCD/scribble it'll be a pain to use, but then I thought, well, if my mix is beyond 24 tracks/bus any of these may still be a bit confusing to use... so how about 1 fader along side a mouse instead? This at least gives feel of a fader and knobs. No it's not gonna make your studio looks like a 'real studio'

i had the alphatrack while it worked very well with my DAW's (Sonar and Reaper, SAW did not have a template yet) i just couldn't get into it, i hated the button on it, loud and clicky. maybe they wear in and maybe they don't

i have heard the faderport buttons are different.

i think alot of people like them as they are cheap, work well and free up desk space. if you fall into any of those catagories its a great piece

Hey willerichey! Thats a funny avatar you got. How many beers did you pour into that dog to get that picture?

On the control surface topic. I always thought that the JL Cooper MCS3800 looked nice. Anyone with experience with theese? They are expandable aswell and can be ordered without the arm rest so they could be built into a desk surface.

I'm running an MCS-3800 with Cubase SX 3 here. It's pretty awesome, the build quality kills the mackie & tascam units.

The only downside is their price, i think they retail for over $5000 AUD for just the 3800 (only 8 faders). A full 24 fader system + joystick would be $$, but they really do kick ass.

That has been my impression of it. It seems really well thought out.

I agree I love the killer looks and build on that thing - but what gives??? Still no scribble strips at this price point??

A little off topic but does the MCS-3800 show the Cubase tracknames in the display? Thanks!

Faders and scribble strips. Surely that is the Euphonix Artist?

If you need the controller for just Fader moves, I recommend a Tascam US2400 if you can find one. It's one piece with 24 faders and can switch in banks of 24 faders up to 192 (Usually that's enough lol). If you need plugin control look into a Mackie Control C4 Pro. If you can't find a US2400. I would go with Euphonix or mackie controllers.
