Langevin Mini-Massive Stereo Equalizer

Has anyone tried this thing?

Just looking at it has me all fired up to tweak some knobs.

She looks like a tone shaping godess.... Bass and treble knobs from the heavens!

Those new Rapture amps sure look beefy:

Somebody must play with one and tell us tales of glory!

I am getting one in my studio in the next couple of days to try out. Fletcher said it was killer on electric guitar cabs I believe. I will let you know what I think when I get it in.

Sorry for the hijack, but does anybody know if they have the standard op-amp connections and would fit into, say... a Purple Biz?

Just bought one...

The Mini Massive I ordered weeks ago just arrived and although I haven't logged many miles with her, I think the knobs look great!

J/K... dry humour...

Okay, initial impressions. Not nearly as colored as my Massivo. Very clean and the top end is sweet. Because I was in the middle of a mix, I simply strapped her across my piano buss (DA16x - Mini Mass - 8816 - C2 - DVRA1000HD DSD) and let her rip. I liked what I heard with a small shelf at 1.2kHz and left her alone. Damn those knobs look great!

I'm starting another mix after a much needed day off and will see what application calls her name. It kinda depends on the material that I'm given and I'll make that call after I import the session and do some listening. I'm kinda thinkin' the drum buss may be a cool place to start with.

Anyone else with time on this unit?

I have had this EQ in my studio for a while and I must say that I am very happy with it. One of the biggest selling points for me was the 3 different sounds you can get with it.

With the transformer off, it is similar to a GML EQ with a fast clean, transparent sound. But it has the ability to make any 2 bus mix sound just wonderful. Many times I will daisy chain the channels together for a 4 band mono EQ. At times when I have a vocalist with a great sound but the freq's need a little adjusting, the Mini Massive does a great job. It can add some sparkle, or reduce a mid freq's without coloring the sound. I generally use this mode at the mastering stage as well. It really is able to add a very special polish on a mix that no plug in can equal.

Once you hit the transformer on 'iron' (same transformer as the Massive Passive), now it has some musical character. It's a gentle musical character that just adds a wonderful high end class A touch to your mixes.

With the switch changed to 'vintage', it adds a little more character which I found very useful for electric guitars. It still is cleaner than my Portico EQ and does not add the weight that the Portico EQ adds, so they are both very useful for different needs.

Highly recommend you trying out the Mini Massive if you get a chance, and no I don't work for Manley Labs.
