Seeking NYC voiceover studio

Hi All.
Long Time Lurker first time poster.

I am looking for a Studio in Manhattan that would be good for long form narration recording. I am producing a mulimedia project that requires about 300 hours of recording time. I have my usual studio tied up with another project and am overbooked. I would need time January thru March 2007. My usual signal path is a u87 or 414 into a John Hardy or Voxbox then some subtle dynamic massaging and Apogee into Protools. I would like to keep the path similar. I would also prefer to have a properly treated vocal booth that can fit two people. Budget is tight as usual. Any suggestions?

I would think for the $$13500 or more the 300 hours would cost you...might pay for the equipment & you keep it
can you run the session yourself or do you need an engineer ??
I know a VO talent with his own studio....maybe working out a deal with someone like that could bundle your costs

If you need to keep it local in Manhattan then try "Shut up and Talk".

I can't tell you that the signal path will be the same, but they do have Pro VO booths and gear (GML pres I believe).

If you can go ISDN to anywhere then...PM me.

NYAV Post is also a good place to try. They'll easily be able to help you out and since the owner is a VO himself, you'll probably get no end of support.

That said... for the cost, it might be smarter to just buy the gear if you're paying for the studio time out of pocket (as opposed to the client paying for it).

Thanks

Hi
Thanks for all of the suggestions so far. I know Mike at NYAV Post. He is a really nice guy. I am not sure he could handle the volume of work I have! I am not looking to buy the gear as suggested. It would cost far more for rent, booth, and gear then to book an existing place. I already have a eight studio facility in midtown, so I am very familiar with what it would cost. I am still looking, so keep em coming. Thanks again.

5th ave studio

We do this kind of work all day, every day. Give me a buzz and I'd be happy to discuss pricing for 300 + hours of record.

Here's another vote for Shut Up and Talk. The guys are great and I personally did the installation of Nuendo 3, a Lynx Aurora16 and AES-16, and an Amek Channel In A Box (as far as I know that's the pre/eq/comp they are using to record with today).

When you call them, tell them that Joshua from AudioLot sent you and I'm sure they'll hook you up. Good luck!

Really...?

D00d, let him know Greg says hi. We chatted up at Anime Weekend Atlanta, and surprised me by knowing some of my work after hearing my name.

With all of his slutty gear, I'd be surprised that he couldn't help you...

I think he is too busy with his own projects. His place is very nice. I will pass along the greetings next time I see him.
