I heard from a very reliable source (the designer) that there will be.

I know the manufacturer absrec is talking about, and I know they do not want that information floating around... It is quite an undertaking and I don't expect it to be ready anytime soon. Something to look forward to in the future.

If you haven't already seen the threads about the Eisen pres, do a search. He makes a 'neve-ish' style pre for 500 racks. Apparantly, the 500 series doesn't have enough voltage to build a real neve style unit, so you get emulations. The Eisen isn't particularly upfront sounding, but it does have a lotta bass, and it has this rich character that I prefer over the P1. I posted clips somewhere on this board comparing the Eisen 'neve-ish' with a P1 and a osa L3.

I wonder if there is a way to step up the voltage once inside the module? It seems like the transformers alone wouldn't let it fit in a 500 series rack. Maybe it takes up 2 slots?

as far as 1073 clone?
i would be more inclined to think a neve-ish sounding pre at best.
not their would be anything wrong with that.
i for one would certainly welcome such a card: )
i would think getting the voltage up could be done but would the power supply be able to handle the draw after such a step up?
i would think now you would have to rebuild your power supply as well.
i do think we will see beefier power supplies coming down the line as the 500 form continues to develop, provided it remains on it's currant growth track, and i do believe it will.
as far as size one can easily occupy more then one slot, some will take issue with this some will not.
personally i have no issues with cards that take more space but one must consider the future consequences here as well.
some my want to see their cards all line up as they accumulate more and more gear, pre's, eq's, comp's, attenuators, summing sections, who knows this market is still wide open and growing like a snow ball rollin down hill.
things are only getting better.
me?
i am proud to be a 500 form slut!!!!!!

Jules should make a "500 series" sub forum in here with guitars and drums.

Sorry, but... This is like asking; "Can I put a Ferrari engine in a Rolls Royce and get a Ferrari ride out of my Rolls?" The answer, they are both great on their own, put they are different and you cannot expect them to do the others job.
