Mounting gear in a metal rack ?

Would mounting gear in an all steel rack (open back) cause any more interference issues than say using an MDF wood rack or SKB style?

I don't see why. Both rack units will have a metal mounting strip so you would end up with the same ground loops if you were gonna have them anyhow.

try to isolate your rack gear from the rack mount strips with vinyl washers or rack tabs like these rack tabs

other than that I would just go for which one looks better :)
just my opinion though :D

oh an in case you are talking about EMI :P which I think you might be, as long as the equipment was made okay and has a grounded chassis it should block out most of that pesky stuff anyhow :P
