Best Alternative To Waves L2 plug

Sorry if this has been covered before, but I've just discovered the joys of Waves infamous WUP scam - I had to get a new computer built, only to find I can't now use a piece of software I've already paid for (the Masters Bundle). I am, frankly, in shock (is it even LEGAL?).

Anyway, I only use L2 for my occasional "mastering" sessions in Samplitude, so what's the best alternative?

I own a UAD card, so I'm heading towards a precision limiter, but is there anything else? Do Sonalksis do anything that will get those Nu-Metal tracks as stupid-loud as the client wants?

If you're using HD, I would highly suggest the Massey L2007. Many have forsaken the L2 and other waves plugs and gone to the Massey plug-ins. He's a genious in my book and charges a great price for his plug-ins. I can't live without the L2007, Tapehead and his compressor any more. They are on EVERY mix.

Yeah, on PC, but no Pro Tools (I use a couple of Radars, and generally the PC's just for "mastering" if and when required).

Voxengo Elephant any good?

I A-B'ed the two and liked the Massey better. We were testing on an LE system.

I would A/B the L2 and the Massey every time I had to use a limiter for a while (on HD). Since the Massey always sounded better I don't A/B any more, I just use the Massey now.

Damn, I just realized the Sony Limiter is PT only too. That and the Massey are the best two I've used.

Sorry I can't help more than that.

Elephant kicks L2's ass.
If you go to the mastering section of this forum you will find many happy pro users.

How does wave arts stack up against them?
I too am lookin for an alternative to the waves verb. My 350 dollar purchase from them was a hard drive serial... I spkoke to them last week, and they want 90 bucks, plus I have to buy a dongle for 30 bucks....

No way man, I will look elsewhere. Wonder how many times the guy had heard that.

I'll bet they have more hole than boat anymore.
