Is this a little whack looking for a studio?

I'm looking for an unusual but cool fabric array to cover 2 foot wide and 9 foot tall bass traps (4 inch) that will be directly behind the speakers at the mix station. There will be 4 total, about 3 inches apart side by side.
Look here ---> http://www.fabric.com/home-decor-fab...-br-topaz.aspx

The very first fabric at the top, called Circles Topaz would be, I dunno, say covering the far left trap. The one below that listed under "coordinates" called Illusion would be the 2nd covering from the left. The one next to that would be the one called Waves Topaz, and then finally on the far right, this one http://www.fabric.com/home-decor-fab...lack-pink.aspx which sort of matches the one on the far left. It would look pretty whack but maybe cool too. I have no idea what color to paint the walls to match this shit though.
Also, sintead of having them go 1,2,3,4 like I said, maybe 1,2,4,3 instead... breaking up the color pattern a bit?

What do you think? Bold? Stupid? Hate it? Love it? Different at least?
Thanks
Paul

I also thought about running rope lights around them so when the lights are out or dimmed (most of the time) that there is an outline there. I think that would look cool too.
I think I just might order these fabrics today.

I wouldnt buy anything that costs 9 bucks a yard and requires me to ask for a second opinion! you can go to walmart and get some unbleached muslin for $2.50 a yard, or to your local fabric store for something inexpensive that is proven as effective and will give a professional neutral look for years to come. just my .02

do you really want something that dark? it would be akin to painting your walls black.

i mean, if you usually record death metal, emo, etc. then... yeah... maybe.

but i like light to be able to read charts, not strain to see knobs, not get eye fatigue, etc. etc.

but then again... it would make the meters & LEDs of all your gear look extra cool.

i guess i'm torn.

Like I said, I'm not looking for neutral, I'm looking for something unusual and cool. Even at $9/yard I'll use less than $100 worth. No biggie. I'd say if it gives the room a more uppity vibe, then its money well spent.

Joncraig- I kind of do lean towards darker colors yes. My bedroom is dark dark forest green, my kitchen and dining room are dark burgundy and my living room is a dark earth tone burnt copper color.

I guess pictures will be in order then.

What the hell color should I paint the remaining room then? What matches? I originally wanted a nice looking lighter green. Sigh.

Anyone hate it? I think it would be "different" at least. I've seen some wilder pictures here for sure.

I hate it.

It's not that it's dark, it's just too busy. All those little circles and polka dots. I like studios to be non-challenging visually so I can focus on auditory stimuli.

But as others have said, it's your studio.

When I am planning a decorating move, I try to make a mock-up in photoshop to see what an idea would look like in the room.

How does one make a photo shop thingy? I guess I need photo shop for starters eh? ha. Is there a cut-down freebie version that wont take 3 days to download?

Or, I could send you $1 to make one for me.
