Apogee ROSETTA 800, Apogee AD 16 x, Apogee DA 16 x (Three together)

Hello, I would like to know more informations for to connect the Apogee ROSETTA 800, Apogee AD 16 x, Apogee DA 16 x converters. (Three together)

I want on the whole 24channels connected in a MAC PRO G5 and Pro tools.
I have any questions on this subject :

I must buy obligatorily three X-HD Card or One is enough on the master converter : ROSETTA 800?

What is the better for working on Pro tools? Do I buy Pro Tools HD1 ? is there a better quality?

If I buy Pro Tools HD1, I will can expand on HD3 ACCell later? (what is the difference?)

What do you think of my configuration? Is it a good one? Miss it something?
Or something in excess?

Thank you to reply me, and i'm sorry for my bad english

Ben

Hi Ben

yes, Pro Tools

I suggest you to go native, with a Apogee Symphony system, if you don't really need the TDM plugins

I'm currently running a similar system on a G5 (200 instead of 800), and it's flawless, a joy to work with.

It's way cheaper than a HD system and sound quality is fantastic!

But if I decide to use Symphony, how many X-symphony cards and Symphony PCI cards do I buy for : 1 rosetta 800, 1 AD 16X and 1 DA 16X?

On the Apogee's website, it's writing you need to work with LOGIC, but I want Pro tools, like you... Is there an incompatibility?

Is it possible to use a little bit TDM plugins with Symphony?

Is there a difference of quality between Symphony and X-HD or the quality is only on the converter?

THank you very much to help me

You need 3 X cards + 1 PCI card; remember you have 32 ins and 32 outs per PCI card; this means that you will not be able to use the AES ins of the AD16x to leave room for the Rosetta analog ins; or get a 2nd PCI card to have more channels

Not sure. Symphony is meant as a native solution (es. Logic or Cubase + AU/VST plugs)

No.

Do you mean "protools HD"? Anyways, we're talking converters here, and Apogee conversion is nothing short than amazing.

Ok, I think I will choose Pro Tools HD if I can't use TDM plugins.

So is it the same case for the X-Card?

I have to buy 3 X-HD CARD for ma configuration? Or 1 only?

Thank's, I see there more and more clearly

3 X cards.

BTW looks like your TDM plugs are worth the difference in price between a Protools HD system and a X card... if I was you, I'd rather buy 10.000 $ of analog gear and stick with the native Apogee system, but hey.
