Exploitative?

IMHO better to write a song about 9/11 then use that as a decoration/marketing tool to sell an instrument.

WHAM on the toer joke. It's never too soon.

The point is that this looks like a regular strat, but overlayed with some really hideous basic fonts and shaped in no particular order. It doesn't look professionally done. The guita rlooks like it was made by some guy in a basement with printed out letters and laquer. The fonts are basic, nothing is custom looking besides the skyline, and it says memorial twice-possibly more times.

And regular starts are what? $400? This guy wants double that for some really botched looking home-customizing. I bet his wife is really into scrapbooking.

It looks like a one off custom job, I bet the guy who made it was sincere- at least at the time he made it. Maybe he had a friend or relative in the FDNY...

If Fender was issuing a series of of 9/11 memorial strats, now THAT would be exploitative.

There's a guy in my neighborhood who decorated his truck pretty much the same as that guitar.

I like it. If I were a rich fvcker I would display one at my home since it reminds me of an important part of American History and is displayed on an instrument I would normally use to express my political opinions and views. Unfortunately I am not a rich fvcker so I really couldn't justify a purchase like that right now. It is a cool piece of art nonetheless.

To keep, not to sell, right?

and, on top of that,
selling it for 100% profit?

but, hey - whatever floats your boat.

Maybe the guy died and his wife is selling it.
Maybe he has a disease and needs the money for an operation.
Maybe he is going to donate the money to the fund for the workers who got respiratory diseases from working at Ground zero.
Maybe he decided the look of the guitar doesn't go with his Kiss Tribute band.
Maybe he was disillusioned by the Midterm elections...

somebody stop me

To me, the proof of sincerity would be in how many of these guitars were built and put up for sale.

No. I guess I should have said the proof of his insincerity would be in how many guitars he made and sold.

If he just made the one, it may have been from the heart, even if it is now up for sale.

If the guy is cranking them out to cash in, that's insincere. But wait - if the money goes to a 9/11 charity....

T-shirt vendors at Ground Zero have been attacked, verbally and even physically by visitors to the site who thought what they were doing was cashing in.

The only people allowed to make hay over 9/11 are the politicians.

OT but then again somewhat related. Korky now offers personalized, visually 'hot-rodded' Mics. So you could actually have a '9/11 Memorial Tube Mic' if you lay down the dineros.

http://www.korbyaudio.com/products-custom.html

I dunno if that really helps with the singers performances though......
