| Gear addict | Thats such an open ended quesstion. It would honestly depend on the sound of the acoustic instrument, and the tracks that were laid down previously, and what i thought i would lay down after the acoustic instrument.. Can you define a bit more? I noticed you didn't have any small diagphram condensers or ribbons..... any particualr reason? marsh

Hi I already have a pair of small diagphram so thatīs why i would like to get a LD.. or two :-D I would mainly use it for vocals. Mostely on Rock music.... It wold be great if i could use them as OH for Rock drums as well, but then I canīt really afford 2x Brauner or 2x Neumann... Should I then rather wait until I do??? With Acustic instruments I mean in a AB infront of letīs say Guitar, Cello, Violine and stuff like that...

Choices I have a pair of 414 BULS, and use them all the time as OH, but I prefer them in conjunction with a "dark" mic pre in that application. I have also successfully recorded upright bass, acoustic guitar & violin with the 414. The one drawback is, I don't feel they often would be a first choice go to vocal mic, although on occasion I have gotten excellent male & female vocal tracks with them, as well as group backing vocals in omni mode. If you had a pair, you could record acoustic guitar in stereo. Also, which model 414 are you speaking of? TLII, BULS, or something "vintage". I've also recorded an entire band with one 414 in omni mode. It turned out great! Another point to ponder, maybe you should save up and get a higher class vocal mic first. What else do you own? Good luck.

Thanks for your reply ! You guy over here at gearslutz realy are helpful :-D I donīt have any good Vocal mic, but i donīt feel like spending 2000$ on a mic which can "only" do vocals. Thatīs why it have to be able to do OH and Acoustics as well... I want the sound to be warm but still easy to fit in a mix ( i know this depends on what you record, but anyway :-)) anybody have some thoughts on the Brauner? THANKS

OK, letīs put it like this... What would you find more useful for Vocals and OH and what do you think would get me a better sound. 1 x Brauner Phantom V (Omni, cardioid, figure 8) or would it be better to get 2x Audio Technica 4050 Please let me know I will do some work next week and want to improve my sound :-D
