Where buy Owens Corning 703 in florida?

hi fellow gear slutters!!

i hope im posting this thread in the right area...anyway..

im looking to buy a bunch of owens corning 703 rigid fiberglass and/or some mineral wool panels to build my own acoustic panels and traps. i seen places online but i was hoping there would be a place here in florida--im in orlando--where i could buy it locally. ive seen ATS acoustics has a good price on them.

any info would be appriciated. thanks all!

hey joe.

i think spi only stocks thin pieces... like only 1" panels of the right density.
...and they don't like to special order unless you buy a lot

I have about 10 sheets of the 2' by 4' x 2" pieces left from a project. 8 bucks a sheet if you want to drive over and get them. I am 14 miles east of Tampa off I-4.

i am also looking in south florida, but even the SPI international headquarters by miami only has 2" 705-FRK, and nothing else... special ordering didn;t even seem possible as I could not get any other pricing or availability and it would involve unknown freight costs as well depending on where it is being shipped from.

I tried SPI in Miami but they only had OC 705 1" panels so I ended up buying mineral wool from them and it was rather cheap. Just make sure you wear gloves when you handle it... very itchy

Owens 703 has a pretty horrible absorption coefficient at 125hz and below. Actually, overall, it's not very even at all. I recommend getting Roxul Rockboard 80. www.atsacoustics.com is where it's at. Not only is it better, but it's cheaper by about $.30 per square foot. It's absorption coefficient, if we're comparing 2" Roxul 80 to 2" 703, is .43, whereas the Corning 703 2" is a hardly usable .17.
