| LA610 I'm looking to get some nice outboard gear from UA to thicken bass and especially lead vocals...Just a couple questions on this la610... How does the compressor compare with the 1176...and is the pre the same specs as the 610? I'm basically asking if it is fair to compare this unit as a combination of the 1176 and the 610 which I both love but cant afford seperatly... Having a great pre and compressor together on one channel strip would be great...Also, can the compressor work independtly of the pre so I can use it in a specific track already recorded? Thank you |

| I have the LA 610 and really like the unit for bass, kick, guitar and voc. You can use them independently, but not independently at the same time. My understanding is the compressor is more like the LA3 then the LA2 or 1176, but I do not own either so I will let someone else comment on that. Glenn

| The LA610 is a 610 preamp w/ "part" of the LA2A compressor. It has the T4 optical cell which is the key component of the LA2A. It is not the same thing though, but definitely a optical compressor. There is a another piece with the 610 pre and the 1176 together in one unit. I think its called the 6176, but I'm not positive. You can go to www.uaudio.com for all the info.
