Thread Starter | connecting my guitar rack in the studio
hi everyone my gitar rack is now prepared for taking one step further.. in the studio. my guitar rack is 12 space with efx, pedals and 2 preamps connected to a dmc-gcx loop switcher I have then connected the output from my reverb+ the output from the gcx together into a rane sm26b splitter/mixer so... Im planning on connecting the rack to a neutrik (nys spl) balanced TRS patch bay. the issues Im dealing with is: -I read some place that the rane sm 26b have all balanced connections, does it mean that the L & R outs is balanced, so no need for telescop shield( I mean can I run balanced cables, and it will work as a full balanced circuit?) -one of the features in the manual was -10dbv to +4dbu shifter. does it mean that the output will be +4dbu line ? in what position schould I put the front panel knobs to obtain unity gain? -when connected to the patch bay, can I run the signal from my rack into a line input, or is a preamp nesessary? -is it better to skip the rane sm26b and connect the gcx directly to the patch bay? thanks , hope someone can help mm04 |

ummm... it sounds like the rane can be switched to +10, right? You didn't specify which piece you were talking about... so i would do that and connect it to a line input if you want to run it direct. no need for another pre or a di, unless you decide you want something for effect. I don't know why you need a patchbay, unless you're wanting to re-order your effects within your guitar rack. I would get a balanced bay if there are any balanced connections within the rack, 'cause it won't interfere with unbalanced connections. |
