upgrade: replace Tannoy or buy DAC-1

Hi, my first post over here, a great forum, hope to get some advice.

I'm currently monitoring through delta 1010 and Tannoy acvtives. What would be the suggested first step upgrade path: replace/upgrade the monitors or buy better DAC - such as the Benchmark DAC-1.

Since the benchmark does not includes an USB for direct DAW connection (in comparison with the Apogee MiniDAC), does it makes a difference to have a high-end digital output (recommendations appreciated) in comparison with an budget one (I have somewhere an $199 PCI card left with an optiical out)?

Which is more important to you? Do you like your monitors? Are you having problems with mix translation? If you are then maybe monitors or room treatment might be in order.

i second the room treatment. YOu should do that before all upgrades, because it will make THE BIGGEST difference. After that, then the speakers, then the dac1

I'm actually on a quest for new speakers myself, Check out the thread on B&W speakers @ the high end forum

and find out what's wrong with your room before you drop any cash on more gear to fix your "monitoring" problem.
