Carvin Legacy 2x12 cab (others)

Anyone here have a Legacy 2x12 cab? The price is great, but I'm a little worried by some of the reviews I read on Harmony Central. One guy mentions it's made from 1/2" plywood and eludes to the fact that it's not very sturdy. I won't be gigging with it, but how would this affect the overall tone of the cab?

For that matter...what are your thoughts on these units as well:

Orange 2x12
Bogner 2x12
VHT Fat Bottom 2x12
THD 2x12

I know that they're more expensive than the Legacy, but ultimately I want a great sounding cab.

THANKS!

The THD cab sounds very nice --- balanced, full tone. Front ported I believe

Hearsay:

Apparently the Orange cab is really nice too --- Heavy, thick birch ply!

peeps also rave about the Bogner!

Choices, choices!

Background: I used to have a 2X12 Marshall JMP combo that sounded excellent, but I now have a JMP head with a 4X12 cabinet instead. I love this even more, but I still miss the sound of the open back combo for some types of playing.

Not sure if it the same as a Legacy cabinet, but a while back I bought a Carvin 2X12 cabinet to have that as an option to plug my head into. BLECH! I sold that thing faster than you could say thin, honkin' piece of crap.

I think it was this cabinet: http://www.carvin.com/products/singl...er=212E&CID=GA

I was kind of surprised as I used to have a Carvin bass combo that sounded pretty decent.

I have a Legacy 2X12 for cover band gigging because it's light and small. I also have a Boogie Recto 2X12 and had a Marshall 2X12. The Marshall rattled like hell and drove me nuts, the Carvin's cool but a bit small sounding and sometimes sounds like the cab is being overloaded (not in a good way) but the Boogie sounds killer! Huge and warm.

Perhaps this is off topic, but I really love the Carvin Legacy head, but only for one thing. Solos!!!
This amp sounds warm, creamy, breathtaking. But as soon as you play chords, it gets muddy. But even to play solos the treble + presence knob are almost fully clockwise and the bass is almost fully counterclockwise.
Strange amp, but if you have the luxury to own one amp just for warm, smooth solos, buy this thing!
I use it with a Boogie 4x12". The Carvin cab also has vintage 30s, which could be cool, but who knows.

I can't comment on the Legacy, but I have the VHT fatbottom and it absolutely rules!!!! Another cool cab to check out is the Avatar. Great cab with a huge choice of speakers. If you're looking a for clear, tight sounding cab look no further than the VHT. The Avatar suits a more "vintagey" tone. Hope that helps.
