DATA RECOVERY help plz, osx, PT.

Hey guys, I just got a frantic call from a muso bud who inadvertently trashed a large number of audio files. he did a drag of session folders from internal drives to a lacie, and then proceeded to trash the Orignal copies on the internals.

I know that there are software tools that may make it possible to salvage the files, does anyone know what those programs are?

Don't record on that drive.

Don't do ANYTHING on that drive.

Dismount it.

Turn it off.

Bring it to a pro.

The files are still there UNTIL THE HD IS WRITTEN OVER. If ANYTHING IS SAVED ON THE DRIVE on sectors where his files were, consider those particular files gone for good.

Even "autobackups" can get you on this.

A pro will do a sector-by-sector copy and THEN try data recovery from that.

Of course, data recovery isn't cheap. It's up to you to decide if it's worth it.

If you value your data at all, don't DIY data recovery.

Good luck.

Works wonderfully. Saved my ass a few times. Just ask anyone who's used it.

It has saved a few asses on this very forum.

I'll second Data Rescue.

I recovered some audio files with it that had been in the trash for some time.

I agree with Gregg completely.

DO NOT ATTEMPT TO DO THIS BY YOURSELF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Take it to a pro. A Data Recovery Pro.

Do not try to cut corners, save costs, or anything that you will regret later. Because believe me, you will regret it.
