Help Turning a studio room into rehearsal room. Pics included!

Hi,
Im in the process of bettering my bands rehearsal room. At the moment, its basically all reflective. Pine floor, and wooden slanted roof. Two bass traps on 1 side of the room. Walls are hard plaster. Not concrete.
The room sounds good for recording, but terrible in a practice enviroment as we are a loud band. Vocals feedback, cymbals are to loud, the the sound is quite confusing in general. Much to many reflections i think.
So we're going to use acoustic foam. The question is, what thickness, and how much of it? We dont want to exagerate either.
Below there is a plan of the room, its 8m x 4m. Height is 1,70m up to 3m. I also attatched a plan with the foam panels, just a rough sketch. The panels are 1x1 or 2x1m.
Where should our singer and 2 P.A. speakers go to avoid feedback?
Any ideas are welcome!!
Thanks alot!

I have an idea. See this:

Also, watch out for cheap foam products. Some of the stuff sold cheaply on eBay is junk, even though it claims (falsely) to be good.

I agree with the foamstuffs, and I have alot of it in my studio. However, I also have 12 OC 2x4x4 in the same smallish room also. The foam will help with highs to a degree, but if I had it to do all over again, there would be no foam at all. As it is now, the stupid stuff is glued up with adhesive from NASA, so there they sit, and will stay.

They sure look pretty though. One of the ceiling designs is an Armadillo shape. Everyone loves that one. Pretty expensive Armadillo though. I guess the real ones dont do much either..

I just built some 2" thick 703 panels for our bandroom to help bring down the noise level a bit. At about $13 per 2x4' panel, it beats the price of foam, looks much better, and is much more effective than 2" foam. There's plenty of info on GS about building these panels, just do a search. Check out Ethan's site too, and listen to every word he says.

On the contrary, nothing beats a real armadillo for smooth broadband absorbtion, but stuck to the wall like that they start to smell after a few weeks.... phew!
