Converting from 48Khz to 96Khz

I was forced to record drums at 24 bit 48Khz. I would now like to record everything else at 96Khz.

My question is: Is it a bad idea to convert my 48Khz drums files to 96Khz? Will it change the sound quality at all? I know downsampling has drawbacks... but what about upsampling?

I'll be using Logic's sample rate converter. Other program suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Sure, you can upsample. It will likely change the sound somewhat. I've upsampled projects before and found them to change greatly - it really depends on your setup.

So, after doing some research, I'm thinking this upsampling is not a bad idea at all because 48 to 96 is exactly double. Am I wrong here?

44 to 96 is tricky, but 48 to 96 ought to be invisible. if it isn't, you need a new src.

That's what I thought. But then using that theory, wouldn't 48 to 192 also be invisible? Just times 4 instead of 2?
