Is Dual Core AMD worth upgrading to? Pro tools LE 7

I need advise. I recently upgraded my AMD Athlon 64 3400 to a dual core Athlon 64 4400
Problem is that my mother board and or bios will not recognize the 2 processors. AMD tech support tells me because it is an Emachine issue, that the bios might be proprietary and not upgradeable to recognize a dual core cpu. Motherboard:MSI (ms-7207) Fine the problem is I'v already spent 115.00 in labor to find this all out not to mention 232.00 for the cpu. SO, either keep the chip and buy a new mother board 100 for labor and 100 for the new motherboard (ASUS-A8N-E) THat's 315 I will be spending in labor costs.
My question is this:
Is it guaranteed that pro tools will be even to utilize the 2 processors. I have seen a few postings that say that certain people had to tell pro tools to utilize only one processor due to errors.
If Digidesign cannot guarantee that pro tools will be able to utilize this feature than it's probably worthless for me to even attempt to replace the motherboard.
I'll probably put the old chip back. Seeing that I am in this deep, 115 for labor and all
I was thinking instead of doing the motherboard upgrade, I was thinking of insalling a Uad-1 project pak card.
What do you guys think.
Also let me say that I am working on the most important project of my life and have wasted time\days upgrading and getting nowhere.
Is the uad-1 a good choice or would you guys say, don't bother upgrading. I really can't afford any more "surprises" where I will lose time/money.
Sure, I am running low on cpu at this point with the single core but am willing to leave it this way if I can finish the project. I am very bummed out at the loss of the labor fees + I will have to pay 35.00 to have them switch the cpus back.
So, Dual core vs. UAD-1 vs. No upgrades.
Pro tools has run fine and smooth until now.

Plenty of people use ptle with dual cores with absolutely no problems. Go to duc.digidesign.com and browse around.

Go for the new motherboard and kiss that e-machine crap goodbye. I recently upgraded from an AMD 3200 to the X2 4200. It made a world of difference. A new Motherboard should only cost you around $100. The Asus AMD boards seem to do pretty good. Check out www.newegg.com for good reviews.
