Synthesizer stand not where I stand.

My synth collection keeps growing and I need to build a stand for all of my beauties. I was thinking wood and I'm looking for inspiration. Does anyone have a cool suggestion how to build a cool synth stand? Thanks!

No thank you!

I dunno man.... A friend of mine had some wooden stands made which ended up squeaky and wobbly in a matter of weeks. He was using some good wood too.

Why not custom make some out of metal/steel? Could make some great looking designs with it instead of the 'X'

I've made a fair bit of my own furniture.
I am about to make a copy of the omnirax synthrax using better wood (which is to say wood, and not laminate particle board).

How are your skills?
If you've never done this before, don't have the tools and such then I'd suggest spending the $600 and getting the omnirax version.
Good tools cost money, plus buying wood in small quantity is more expensive.

I like the DIY attitude though- and can customise things as is needed.

I'll send you a picture once it is done- I need to finish the studio build first though.

James

they are great if you only need to stack 2 synths at a time.

The omnirax looks good that's what I want. My skills are pretty limited but I have built some racks and stuff so I think I can build something like the omnirax.

Thanks a lot and please post a picture of your DIY omnirax.

Cheers!

$600 for a sideboard to put synths on? How can you PLAY them on that thing, all sitting flat like that. Yeuch, horrible!

Quicklok make a whole bunch of stands that will allow you to tilt the keys so you can USE them (rather than just look at them). Spending 3 days making a creaky sidebord that is un-adjustable rather than spending $200 on a proper stand is madness!

Hej Dimlight!

I was looking for a synth stand some years ago and found this Quiklook stand. It works well if you don't have a lot of heavy synths.

It can also be expandable to 4 tiers if you want to.

Yeah that one looks pretty cool. I'm planing on making a whole wall with synths and those stands doesn't look cool. I was thinking of something that looks like a book shelf if that makes sense. I don't know still sketching. Thanks for the feeback!
