Thread Starter | any SAE audio engineering degree students/graduates on this forum?
Hi, I finished the audio engineering diploma 2 years ago in my native city Rotterdam( The Netherlands) and now im thinking about doing the degree programme. I was wondering if there were any SAE bachelor degree students on this forum that like to share their experiences? thanks |

Maybe I'm obtuse... but you finished the trade school thing like 2 years ago, don't have a gig and you're ready to go back for more? What the hell have you been doing for the past 2 years? If it hasn't been audio then there is zero point in continuing with schooling... if it has been audio and you still don't feel you've learned enough about the craft pick up a book or three on theory and read them in your spare time... hang out with some other engineer buddies from time to time... maybe make friends with a tech and learn some design theory. I'm from a different planet, but on the planet from whence I came the only "advanced degree" was sitting in the big chair and getting a pay bump. As always, YMMV.

I thought everyone who went to SAE was given a job teaching there when they graduate. Hmmm.

I did that course in about 91 or 92. Biggest joke ever! At least it was cheap back then..... Oh and I am the ONLY person from the 2 years around my class working today. That is out of about 150 - 200 people. The thing is I left there and harassed bands in to letting me do the live sound. I have been doing that ever since, and then TEACHING MYSELF how to make records in between tours. SAE teaches you the absolute basics, and thats it. Come to think of it, they wouldn't teach you anything about tape machines anymore... So I guess they teach you LESS than the basics... |
