Problems with MOTU 828mkII

Has anybody experienced any problems with their 828?

I've had two different problems with my units.

1) The display on the front of the unit would not light up, including metering segments and bit rate indicator.

2) Strange white noise eminating from the SPDIF channels. I have never connected anything to the SPDIF channels but unless i mute them in cuemix they create noise. Even with the unit unconnected from my PC the noise still occurs so i presume it has to be internal.

MOTU have been very good with replacing the units, i'm not moaning, just confused!

The problems i detailed in my previous post are common in the 828mkII, many people have reported these problems and although MOTU will allow them to be returned i'd suggest waiting for a while before purchasing one!

Same thing in another studio I was at, but it was a HD192 that went blank...no lights, nothing.

A week later MOTU sent another one...it was intermittent.

A few days later 2 more HD192's at the studio for a total of 4.
Studio figures they will pick the best one.

2 were good, 2 were bad!

I watched as one of the bad ones was working fine then all of a sudden the metering lights and indicator lights started to flicker intermittently...then finally all went blank.

That one went into the bad pile.

Hmmmm.
