Looking for good NYC Recording Studio

Can anyone recommend (or even be an engineer at or owner of) a decent recording studio in/around NYC?

Here's what we need:

- A really kick-ass sounding drumkit
- Record on any DAW (protools, etc.)

Time: Nov 4th, 5th
Total of about 12-15 hours

Approximate Budget: w/engineer: $1000 w/o engineer $600 (About $75/hour w/engineer/$50 w/o)

Hey, thanks for the tip, I'll give them a try -- although, that Saturday we have to work during the day, so I'm still open to other suggestions in case they don't have that time available...

I just wanted to say thanks for this recommendation. Out of all the engineers that I contacted, Mike was by far the most communicative -- it was a huge help that he had audio samples from recent recordings available on his website. Every studio should do this, it's 2007 for crying out loud! Drums were setup and mic'ed before we even got to the studio. We just finished our recording with him last night, in a marathon 15-hour session (during which he took maybe two five-minute breaks!) and I was very impressed.

It wasn't an easy session to engineer, either! I had an album's worth of tracks I had put together in Tracktion which had to be xfered to Pro Tools, with tons of time signature and tempo changes. Mike was great at keeping everyone focused and calm when things could have been difficult, and we were all blown away at the quality of the sound.

Thanks!

It's all very easy when working with a great band and cool people.

I have to recommend Brooklyn Recording. I know it's not in NYC but just accross the bridge and it's one of the nicest setups around. I think their site is www.brooklynrecording.com. They have a beautiful vintage Neve, Studers, Pro Tools, and all the vintage drums you would ever need. I played on a session there about a year ago and it was a very pleasurable experience.
