Don't know if anyone has caught this cover by Michael Andrews and Gary Lucy from the Donny Darko sound track.

It's being played on the National Radio over here in the UK at the moment and is really refreshing.

Sounds louder than anything else out there, probably because it's such a simple arrangement but still a very well recorded song IMHO.

Love it. Great movie as well. Apparently that version is NOT on the soundtrack due to legal matters (though check it out, I could be wrong). I haven't heard it on the radio, then again I pretty much only listen to NPR and college radio (no that Clear Channel would play it). Oh yes, WFMU and KEXP on the web get my nod as well.
I have become interested in Tears For Fears as a result. Other than "Shout", which makes me want to, er, shout, their stuff is right on.
I group Donnie Darko in with a couple of other '1980s-viewed-through-90s-sensibility-movies', Gross Point Blank and Election. My take on it: Gross Point Blank is The Breakfast Club or Say Anything with the dark 90s twist that John Cusack became a hitman. Election is Ferris Beuller's Day Off, except Matthew Broderick is now the teacher and he is getting HIS ass kicked. Donnie Darko relates back to Say Anything or Sixteen Candles: showing an oddball teen attempting to integrate into society and meet a girl, except he has certain experiences (don't want to ruin it).
Summing it up: great song, great movie. David

Love the movie and that song is amazing. My friend got the soundtrack and there are about three different versions of it on there. Can't remember what the differences were if there were any!
