| Best Mic Pre for Electric Guitar Yes, there is no best pre for guitar as we know, a better word would be 'Favorite Mic Pre'. What is your favorite mic pre for electric guitar? When I say pre, I mean the first that pops into your head. When I say guitar, I mean grind, harmonic overtones, etc. Anyone? |

| Often the UA 2108, even more often the BA 312A. Chandler TG-2 for Marshall cabs. Chandler LTD-1 once in a while.

| I think the 512c pretty much KILLS in that application. That and drums are the ONLY things I think it kills at, FWIW...so, I'm not really the typical API fanboy you might find around here. ;) That said, the UA610 has done remarkably for me-coming in a close second to the API. Albeit a softer sound. Although...you know--depends on the mic. I really think my Hv3 does incredibly well with a Royer 121...but, a 57 likes the API more. |

| Depends on the electric guitar. 1058s if it's not too distorted. Any other Neve if it's a heavy or gainy sound. Steven |
