| Gear nut | kick ass "virtual" reverb
this may have posted elsewhere but i didn't see it. i was surfing around and cam across this site http://www.tank-fx.com/ friggin' great idea.....i can see alot more cool spaces being used this way. here some info from the site "Tank-FX is a non-virtual effect device. The reverb is generated by a huge [11m] tank made of ferroconcrete. We put some mics and speakers in it and connected them to a unix box, so everybody can use it now from the internet." peace

this is really a great idea ! I´m uploading some stuff now... If I could upload wav´s it would be even better ! Can I upload a tone to get an impulse from it ? do you already have an impulse in a wav format that you could make available ?

I had this idea a while back. This could also be done with classic outboard. Good way to keep your gear working on off days. |

sounds pretty good.. but you have to make it pretty wet to hear it ... I found that making the file 100 wet ,and then mixing the file back in with the original in the DAW sounded pretty good.... then you can eq and comp the reverb and stuff like that.....

run the same sound twice maybe on 2 different days to see if an IR is used or if it's real...if it's real, I am sure it won't sound exactly the same, if an IR is used it will probably null as well...

It does seem like an interesting idea. But did anyone else notice that they're using a pair of $100 prosumer ART micpres? It would be interesting to hear how much better this idea might sound with better gear.
