Thread Starter | clocking HEDD 192 DA with 001 greetings everyone, got a question regarding playback sync with a HEDD 192 and the 001 when monitoring thru the HEDD da's what is the best sync option.....internal (001 clock master) or sddif rca (HEDD clock - derived from syncing PT to the HEDD AD clock) i've obviously tried both and only notice a very slight difference. i would imagine that the hedd has the best (stable & accurate) clock, but i wonder about the 001's PLL, which must come into play if it is syncing to an external source....then, it would send this clock (from hedd) back out thru the 001 spdif out to the hedd DA, where the hedd's PLL would have to do it's thing once again before the actual analog conversion..... internal sync would have the 001 as master, using its crystal osc. and only 1 phase when a PLL would be used..... i guess another question is what is more reliable the 001's PLL or its crystal osc. has anyone else pondered these issues? am i losing my mind? LOL my monitoring DA signal path is unfortunately this..... 001 spdif rca -> HEDD 192 spdif in /analog XLR out -> mackie VLZ 1402 -> tannoy active reveals any comments will be much appreciated! thanks very much in advance! paul |

| Gear maniac | Go with the HEDD's clock - it may improve the sound of the 001 converters to your ear. If you are only mixing/editing, and worried about clock stability issues - go with your 001's internal clock. another way to do it is to get a master clock for your system, yet you'd then have to figure out a way to get everything into your 001..
