All these comments are perfectly OK with me. I knew that by sharing this story there would be comments like this. I knew I would catch some heat. I know it's hard to believe for some people. It's a lot easier to make jokes than to try and make sense of it... I put my ass on the line. Luckily for me, I rest with the knowledge that I'm a confident, educated person and although I still can't prove what happened, I still believe it did. I was there... I've never seen Jesus and I'm not even sure who wrote the Bible, but I believe in God. It's called FAITH ! You can't put your hands on it or see it. You either have it or you don't...

I hear what you're saying, but your original story included a couple of statements which suggest that you did not know these folks really well and maybe, if that's the case, their collective sense of humor may be a side of them you're not too familar with: 1. "I meet and make plans to track a 4 piece rock band late one night around 10 O'clock since they said that's when they performed their best. I didn't make too much of that but I also wasn't looking forward to an all-nighter." The way your referencing the band suggests that you didn't know them well enough to know when they were at their best, whether they liked to pull all-nighters or whatnot. You didn't refer to them as friends or folks you had a prior working relationship with, just "a four piece rock band". The language you used suggests not an informal friendship with the band members, but more of an aquantence-type or formal working (client) relationship. 2. "Two things happened after this incident, I moved immediately out of the house and I never worked anymore with people that I didn't know well. To this day, this holds true." Why would you not work with people you didn't know well, if (as you say now) you knew these folks well enough to know that they would not pull a stunt like this? Again, this statement suggests you really didn't know these guys all that well before the session took place. I'm not trying to say that the events as you related them did not take place, but that it appears all the "scary" stuff happened to them and you just witnessed their reactions, as it were. And you were kind of set up by your own brain and its expectations, being that you were in that "very old house with crackling wood floors and a bit spooky looking" which kicked your adrenal glands into high gear and all... Anywho, I thought it was a fun story. Rock on! -mr moon

| it really boils down to a belief. i doubt anyone's going to convince dreamsongs that the episode didn't happen, and i doubt dreamsongs is going to convince mr.moon it did. whether it did or didn't i have no idea but i have no doubt that alot stranger things than this can, and do happen. i also have no doubt that it'll be quite impossible to convince some people to think like i do - but everyone's gotta admit this is a cool thread. ![]() |

...And yes, I have had some very "interesting" events take place that would be considered "unexplainable" by normal standards, but they have all occurred to/around me personally and directly, so there was no "middleman" (or "middlemen") who could account for the phenomena, that is my primary point of contention with dreamsongs story. I have to agree this is a fun, enjoyable thread; It makes you think "outside the box" of what we consider our "normal" reality. IMHO, I don't think the human mind can begin to comprehend the true nature of the universe due to our rather limited brains and sensory perception. Boo! -mr moon

You are absolutely right. I knew these guys from hanging out at their gigs and establishing a business rapport with them. But I didn't know them like I would a good friend. As far as not working with people I don't know well... These days, my studio is a little too close for comfort to my main house. It's detached about 50 ft away, but I can't bring in "just anybody" to my house. I have actually turned down business because of this if I feel the people are "a little dubious". I've had break ins and gear stolen in the past and as a true GS, it was traumatic. It's like, - "take anything but my gear please"... But back to the subject. I think I'm a pretty good judge of character, I've traveled and met people from all over the world. I don't really need to know somebody that well to know they're lying to me. And even though I didn't know them that well prior to the gig, we became pretty good friends after that. What I'm saying is that I surely would've found out or they would've confessed eventually if they were pulling my leg. There was no need to continue lying years later... Telling the story is different than being there. Sometimes, you just know something is real. Then again, I was predisposed to believing these sort of things exist anyway. Other people would've found a more logical explanation because that's how their minds work. But in my mind, and after hearing everything, there wasn't any logical explanation...

As far as not letting folks you don't know into your studio, I'm with you 100%, as my rig is located in the basement of my own home. Recently, a band that I was recording wanted to bring in a guest fiddle player friend of theirs to record with them and went so far as to invite the person to record at our next scheduled session ....without asking me first. Needless to say, the fiddle player DID NOT record with the band that day, or any other for that matter... Anywho, take care! -mr moon

| Help!! Strange sound coming through microphone I'm having a hard time explaining this one away... This sound just appeared in the middle of a hip hop vocal track today, you can hardly hear it in there between the vocals but it's definitely something really weird, does not sound like a bug or a mic stand, maybe it's some kind of RF interferance? This got us all really freaked out today though, I really believe something scary is going on around here, has anyone ever heard anything like this before? This is on a 1950's M49 with an original 1073 and a black 1176 going into Pro Tools HD, if that helps. |
