Best low latency mac audio interface?

Hello,

It's time for me to finally put my old Motu 828 to rest.

The main reason is I cant really get the buffer lower than 128 samples or around 3.2ms.... it's just too annoying to record vocals anymore like this!

Whats the general consensus on the best audio interface? Can I stay firewire or is PCI the best? What are the top brands? Will switching to a RME Fireface give me a lower latency? Is that Ensemble thing ready for prime time... Ive been hearing no.

Thanks so much for any advice I know there is a lot of info on this board but Im hoping someone can give me a quick opinion.

I only need 1 mic-pre in and 4 line ins for my old synths.

THANKS!!!!!!!!!

my metric halo 2882's go down to 64 samples easily
32 samples if the load is very very light.

Hey,

I'm using an RME fireface 800 with a g5 dp2.0, with logic pro 7, i have very little problem with latency on that set up even at 128, and i can easily get that down to 64 without my computer freaking out! the pre amps in the fireface much better than any motu i've used also, You might want to consider the fireface 400 if you dont requite all of the i/o in the 800

good luck!
