Speck ASC-T eq's on the 2 buss?

Are any of you using your Speck ASC-T eq's on the 2 buss? If so, how do ya like it?
If not, why?

Yes.
Great.
Why would I use them if I did not like them?
Or do you mean, why would I not use them if I do like them?

I've posted on this in the past (a search of "ASC" will turn up a lot of good opinions on the Specks).

Quick pros (generally):

-- Great sound
-- Boost sound as natural as cuts
-- High shelf sounds brilliant
-- Transformer option can add some character when driven a bit
-- Gobs of headroom
-- Can add a sense of "glue" to some sources/mixes

Quick cons (for 2-buss work):

-- Small knobs with wide range no detents
-- No stereo link between units

IMO, the Specks can't be legitimately criticized, but their compact form factor makes them a bit tricky (but not impossible) for stereo work because it can be difficult to match settings between units.

Steve
I meant that if you like them for a certain application (tracking or mixing individual tracks) and didn't like them on the 2 buss, why?

Agreed small knobs are a pain, on all gear IMO.

re No stereo link -- but what EQ does have it? Gyraf is about all I know of. The new GR can link the frequencies, but the levels must still be set separately for all filters.

Matching settings is easier for me when racked like this:

I usually just set L/R by ear anyway. The Specks will certainly let you hear the differences.

I was just buggin you. I like them for everything I've used them for -- track, mix, 2-bus, cleaning old tapes, heating pizzas, whatever.

Good point -- I was thinking of some way to make up for the lack of detented controls.

Nice. For space reasons, I have mine side by side -- like you, I use my ears to fine tune when I use them as a stereo pair.

I see you have one of those Focusrite Platinum Mix Master -- I've been curious about those for a while -- I'll PM you for your input.
