The Plant Tour

My son and I grabbed this tour which was very much fun and educational. If you ever wonder where all the high end gear on eBay goes, it's probably in one of their 4 studios.

Blue Strip 1176s
Pultecs
LA2A (I counted at least 8)
Other 1176s, probably at least 10 in various places.

I loved the Neve console but would hate to have to recap that thing. The Garden Room was my favorite. Nice 5.1 system and Icon board. The SSL9000 Ho Hum (just kidding)

Another highlight, on the way back from the tour the Blue Angels Airshow took place over the bay which was full of sailboats lined up for the event. One of the Angels went right over our bus while we were in the middle of the Golden Gate Bridge. Awesome sight.

Thanks to everyone at The Plant. Loved the homemade Chili and cornbread - nice touch and very good.

because of the airshow, it probably took you 45 minutes to get from the plant in sausalito to sf--whereas it normally takes 15.

I took the tour too and it was really cool, you could smell the music histroy from the walls. A lot of vintage gear. But to be honest, after all the shock of seeing the racks and the mixers and listening to all the stories about the place.

But when I started looking around (beside the gear) I felt that the place was a little bit runed down. I saw some staple trying to close some holes on the wall, some wood frames broken. Maybe is because I started looking every inch of each room and found that stuff.

Don't get me wrong, it is a EXCELLENT Studio ( I took a lot of pictures, I'll post them later tomorrow), but man, it kind of hurt seeing that.

Cheers

I agree, it could use an interior decorator because it was not inspirational for much except metal music. But the gear, the gear......
