cheapest protools HD interface

Hi!
What is the cheapest protools HD interface solution? Cheapest I found is Digidesign 96 IO. Im looking for temporary solution of 2 ch. outs for monitoring before I buy serious converters. Maybe there is any way to connect 888/24 IO to HD without this new interfaces? Or to use samplecell or something from this low-priced or legacy digi products to route signal through it?
Thanks.

I would first look on Ebay for a good deal on the 96io. You need at least one of the newer HD interfaces before you can connect an older 888/24. The older interface would have to connect via the legacy port on the HD interface.

I don't know what they're fetching on eBay these days, but if you could find a used Apogee AD8000 (or Trak2) relatively cheap on eBay you could buy one of their AMBUS HD cards for it...and you'd probably be happier with the sound as well...

Unfortunately, Digi doesn't offer anything that will suit your needs in the HD line.

The cards are proprietary, and require an HD interface to open the S/W.

Your best option is to find a used HD interface. There is no less expensive way around this.

Good Luck!

Actually, you can buy the Apogee Rosetta 200 and the XDigiHD card and it will work connected directly to the HD cards... and you'll have much better converters all for about $2300-ish if I recall...

You still need some HD PCI card which is ridiculous expensive for the basic one. IMO

Would a rosetta 200 with the HD card work for playback only?
