This is for my band, not a pro studio. We are going for the classic 60s/70s two guitar big drums sound. Very happy with our Midas board, Meek and TLA Ivory 5051going into a Mackie hard drive. We're ready to add a 2 channel compressor for drums and a 2 channel compressor for the stereo buss. So far we have the RNC and the Valley People Dynamite 430. We're considering a JoeMeek SC2. Don't want to spend a fortune but we're willing to put out in the four figures to get the sound we want. Thanks in advance or any advice! |

This has been bantered for some time, I'd start with a search for existing threads. You'll find a SLEW of comp options. Personally, you might look at Alan Smart and the SSL compressors for solid state options (easier than tubes for touring)....if that's too much $$, chec out Gyraf's clones. Thats ONE direction, there are about 2500 others. |
