what's my cheapest solution, to be able to use a TDM plugin?

I'm kind of confuse about TDM systems.

can some explain me what's required to be able to use a TDM plugin?

Let's say i don't need an HD interface with lot's of digital I/O.
Let's suppose, that i have all my HD tracks in my computer.
Now. Let's assume i'm inside PT TDM.

What's required for a TDM plug, to show up in the "inserts" and be able to use it ?

thank you.

you need a pro tools HD core card and a compatable interface at least.

unless you go for pro tools mix, which doesn't support the more recent versions of pro tools

or if the plugin has an RTAS version you can use it in pro tools LE, with out the need for an HD card, but you still need a digidesign interface, or a compatible m-audio interface

Pro Tools|24 MIX System Compatibility & Requirements

Pro Tools 6.4.1 for Windows XP and Pro Tools 6.4.1 for Mac OS X 10.3 (Panther) are the last versions of Pro Tools that will work with Pro Tools|24 MIX systems.

Please see the following pages in the Compatibility Archives for Pro Tools|24 MIX compatibility information with your operating system and Pro Tools version:

Pro Tools|24 MIX Mac Compatibility Archives

* Pro Tools 6.4.1 for MIX Systems on Mac OS X 10.3 (Panther)
* Pro Tools 6.1 for MIX Systems on Mac OS X 10.2 (Jaguar)
* Pro Tools 5.1.3 for MIX Systems on Mac OS 9

MIX cards not compatible with Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) or with Power Mac G5.
so you'll need HD rig

A gearslut has a minimal one advertised at the moment on ebay here for $4999

But you will ALSO NEED an interface, I think the 96 io is the cheapest.

out of interest what plugin is it that you want to run?

yes, tdm is the form of processing for the real version of ProTools (not the "Light Edition") and this is not the type of system you run if you don't know what it does. I really don't mean that in an insulting way, but no one buys a vintage porsche when they want to learn how to drive. unless you have a rich a$$ dad.

oh, and what the crap do terrorist have to do with that crap?!?

TDM = Time Division Multiplexing and refers to the way the data is processed. It's proprietary.

You need a Mac to run OS X. You need a Sprint phone to use the Sprint system. So what?

You can protest by not buying it. Very few plugins are TDM only. Crane Song Phoenix, Amp Farm and a few others.

HD core and MDW EQ is a similar price to buying a GML 8200 and you can run more than one of them
