Are those the sheets you use to wipe your eyes after recording a bad take?

That's a great resource. Thanks, Dave, for posting the link, & thanks Barry, if you're around, for creating it.

I've also made my own with a drawing program and pulled others out from the owners manual for whatever piece of gear it is.

I need to do one up for my Trident S65. Gear sheets you see but console strips don't seem to be all that common.

Actually I heard this gret trick the other day.

I have a Ghost32 which is great, but recalling is a little PITA sometimes... those markupsheets are ok-ish, but it still involves a lot of work.

Now I heard about some guys taking digital photo's of their console and rackmounts and when recalling just put them on the second screen... mucho more precise than drawing on a sheet of paper and I bet its faster too. Gonna try it one of these.

I know this is obvious, but every time I get a new piece of gear i take a digital picture of it and import into photoshop,
Charcolize in blk n white (or whatever) and decrease levels so its real faded, resize in quark and add some text boxes
for client info and print a bunch... Theres your ultra hip recall sheet! draw on 'em to your hearts content!

That's because they're usually in the owners manual. I don't think my 65 manual had 'em but then again I never checked.

When I actualy do take recall notes which is damn rare I throw a tape into the DAT machine and grab an SM57 and say my notes right onto the tape. It's great, works in real time and I can get as accurate as needed. "The output gain is about 2/3 of the way between the hash marks at 7 & 8".

Maybe. I got the idea from someone at another studio I did a project at. These days it's just about the only thing the DAT deck gets used for besides another DAC. The cool thing is that you say everything in real time and it also recalls in real time. So if it takes 40 minutes to transcribe the entire setup it should only take 40 minutes to recall it.
