MOTU 896HD worth buying for $500

I have a Behringer ADA8000 for my additional 8 ins and outs connected light pipe to my digi 002. It's crap and I know it. Anyone have any experience with the MOTU 896 HD? Would it be a good improvement for $500. Does it need to be clocked or will it "get by" Thanks -Damien

the answer is yes

If you want to sync several pieces of gear, a good external clock is definitely a plus

cheers

Dispite what some people might say, the internal clocks are fine.

The external clock is probably only needed for hooking up several A/D and D/A boxes and running them at the same time. The 896HD will accept a clock from several places (I forget which ones right now).

I used to own an 896HD before I went to the Auroras, and it's well worth $500, that's quite a deal. Probably a leader at it's pricepoint, or among the better ones, anyways. Go for it!
