Thread Starter | Should I leave my Motu Ultralite on? This may be a silly question, but I've been thinking a lot about this. When I go out, I'm in doubt whether I should turn off all the gear on my studio. My laptop goes to sleep, my HD too but I don't know if I should turn off the Motu Ultralite. Is it bad for it, turning it off and on several times a day? Is it going to be worse (for durability) doing this then just leaving it on the whole day then powering it off at night? THANKS! PS: Another question - how does the Genelec monitor 8040 compare to the 8030 with a 7050 sub? Anyone has listened to both of these set-ups? |

| I don't see a problem with leaving the unit on. Although, it would seem easy to be able to turn off. If you are going to turn it on, I would probably make sure your preamp channels are not active. |

Thread Starter | What do you refer to when you say preamp channels? The monitors? Or the preamp switches (phantom, 48v)? |

| I have a Traveler. Each of the mic preamp channels has a gain adjustment that goes from -inf to 0. There are 4 of these on the Traveler. There are two mic preamps on the Ultralite. (Mic 1 and Mic 2 trims.) |
