Should I buy new Mic of Pre??

HI!

Please help me! I´am doing new investment for my studio but don´t know which is most important,
new microphone(handcrafted lab Faust) of
new preamp(handcrafted lab Affinity)?

Currents are:
SE 5600A / RödeNT2 and Mindprint envoice1 / TLA fat2

I think new preamp would be nice, couse I can use it also on bass and...
but Affinity don´t has compressor.
Do I have to route the signal first pre and then to my mindprint line in or???
Is it ok to record vocals without compressor??

Good Faust of Affinity experiences???

Thanks

a good microphone makes a much bigger difference than a mic pre. i´d get a mic first, then a pre. haven´t heard the faust though...

You've already got 2 bright mics. Might be better to get a mic that does something different. A modded Oktava 319 is less hyped in the high end. They're don't cost alot, and I think the Oktavamod.com guy sells in Europe now. Depends on the music you're doing. If you don't record acoustic instruments, maybe you don't need a flat response mic. They're nice on a mandolin or accordian, or even a drum set, depending on your room. A ribbon mic is also nice for guitar cabs and chick singers with really bright voices trying to do sultry jazz. The list goes on and on and on....
