This sounds strange... You don't need any receipt. If there is an invoice following the package, thats what the customs have to work with. UNLESS the customs people suspect foul play. Worst that can happend is the package beeing sent back to its origin. Why did you get in contact with the customs anyway ?Why not wait an extra day or two and get the package through the mail ? I used to do the same thing. Tracing my packages. Whenever I saw them arriving inside the country, I'd rush off to the customs to pick it up myself. Somehow the customs dudes did not appriciate that. After I stopped and let them do their thing, I haven't had one single problem whatsoever with this sort of thing.... Best advice I can give you is keep cool, don't rush it. If the customs are hellbent on a receipt...transfer the amount to the seller...give the receipt to the customs...get the seller to transfer the founds back to you once you have the package good luck

| I recently shipped an item to a buyer in Europe, and customs required him to provide a receipt, so I just created a PDF invoice/receipt and emailed it to him, which did the trick.

What's the item worth? Goods made in Germany are subject to 16% VAT. If you could import items and they were free from such a tarriff, there would be an incentive to avoid domestically produced goods. Unless the item is a one-off that's not represented on the internet, they're going to want to find the actual value and you'll have to pay duty on it. http://www.germany.info/relaunch/inf...ms/tariff.html

I assume they're not stupid. They know it ain't a gift, and they know it's worth more than $100. Gotta be careful screwing with customs in any country. Follow the rules or pay the piper.

I'm in Canada, i don't know if that aply, but i did buy a couple on goods in other country, and the custum agent told me that they don't look at the value of the good that you pay for taxes , they look at the full values,as if you buy it new, even with use goods, the reason is that it's over the time that someone will sell something that's worth 1,000$ and you said that you pay 100 $............and you got to pay taxes on gift for the same reason. And they are not stupid, they will find out if you try to fool them, you better pay the taxes and get the product. Last edited by bigbone; 17th September 2006 at 04:49 PM. Reason: cose i can....:)

You'll need a receipt, pal. I once underestimated the Israeli customs service too. Guess what - they know their way around eBay and Paypal REEEEEALY well. I wouldn't think any less of the Germans. Good luck.
