Vintage Marshall Cab? Need Help..

I have a friend who picked up a Marshall Cab at a road show a few years back.

Anyway, it is an 8 Ohm Cab with a Brown/Grey Grill cover.
2 - 12 inch Speakers. Basically looks like a mini 4x12 slanted cab.

SN# is 1098

According to Marshall info, this may predate 1969?

Can anyone confirm?

Thanks.

Dating cabs by serial # alone is tough. But there are several era indicating features you can use to judge. A plywood rear panel, for example indicates pre '72.

A better method is to date the speakers. Celestions will have a date code stamped on the frame. Typically two letters followed by two numbers. Indicating the week and day. Of course, it wouldn't be any fun if the codes didn't change over time, so ....they do.

A great resource is Doyle's History of Marshall book. There's a whole chapter on celestion and dating them.

i'm guessing it's an older version of the 1966A ?

I saw a 2x12 vintage marshall cab, the speakers are one over the other (vertical) for sale for 490$ CAD, I don't know how it sounds but it looks pretty cool.

The back of the speakers is green but there's nothing written on them...

Here's some pic.
How do you think it sounds?

I saw weezer with a big marshall cab, looks like an 810...anybody knows what this cab is?

The cab in the Weezer video looks like the old marshall 8x10 that I had years ago. Being young and stupid, even though it sounded great (really sweet), I got rid of it because it wasn't very loud. I bought it for $250, and I sold it for $250. Yes, I do kck myself in the a** daily for doing this!

Ah it sucks, I'd like to get a collection of cool rare cabs that have a tone to them, that'd be great.
