What an album !!.. anyway
Fools Gold - close enough - on the import album but not the original but gives you an idea
He actually played great across the loop, using his own custom kit made up of bits and pieces: floor toms painted by John Squire, a Gretsch bass drum and a Ludwig snare, although on 'Fools Gold' we experimented with a smaller Noble & Cooley snare. This was miked with a [Shure] SM57, while there was a D12 on the bass drum along with a Sennheiser 421 to provide a bit more slap and clarity. The D12 was to give it more weight, and we had to position both at the same distance to avoid phase problems. The toms were miked with [Neumann] U87s and 421s, while the hi-hat had an AKG 451, padded down. As the Sawmills live area is quite small with a low ceiling, solid stone walls and lino on the floor, the drums always sound very tight in there. Reni also played bongos, and I think he attempted congas, too, but a lot of 'Fools Gold' has a bongos rhythm."

that single track is so incredibly cool.
don't like the rest of the album.
pity they took on the biz and couldn't put out any more of that stuff for a long time
(at least that is what I heard, please correct me if I'm wrong)

The track wasn't on the album only the American release - the ending of I am the Resurrection is spoilt by Fools Gold coming in after IMHO - the normal release is much better
They didnt; take on the biz - big label came in with big cash - they couldn;t put anything out whilst the court case was goign through
But then they just took their time (the second world war was shorter than the time it took to do the second album) and blew their chance - the second album - mmmhhh
At least we have the first

Wow- I'd have it more as about 8 outstanding tracks and a couple of nothing specials.
Now the second album... two or three crackers and a lot of 'heard it before'... it's still a good record to listen to though, Daybreak is cool- as is Love Spreads.

Nearly 20 years go that was released
Yes - 20 f***g YEARS
bloody hell
Anyway - there is a second album interview on the SOS site as well
Love Spreads was cool - so was the video (the image of the Vulcan bomber was exactly the same as when one went over my primary school in the 70s - weird!)
The rest - mmmhh dreadful
The best part of me from the first album was the stop during the jam session at the end of Ressurection
Pure class

Working with a loop based track can render very interesting results IMO
"Fools Gold" is the perfect example how this could work and sound very natural. It still is a HUGE inspiration, the whole thing just bounces and bubbles. thumbsup
