need some advice on monitoring/mix referencing

My Control room is pretty well set, I have bm6a's, and m-audio ex88 that I use for listening to cd's. I also have a dynaudio sub.

I a cheap aiwa home stereo in the lounge that I feed from the console to refrence mixes.

However, I feel like there is a weak linkin my refrencing. I don't have translation problems, but I would like another set of smaller speakers to monitor on either in the control room or the lounge.

So here are my ideas:

1) Buy a pair of genelec 8020's for the control room.
2) Buy a small set of good consumer home audio speakers for the control room.
3) Buy some really nice home speakers for the lounge to refrence on.

So what do ou guys think? I am stuck... What are some good home audio speakers to listen on?

If you just want most common, to fit what the masses are using, I think that would be Home Theater systems. According to some sources

these are the most popular brands --

Likely top sellers: Bose, Sony, Panasonic, Harman Kardon, Onkyo

Other very common mfgrs: Denon, Phillips, Pioneer, Yamaha, JVC, RCA, Infinity, Acoustic Research, JBL, Polk, Boston Acoustics, Aiwa, Klipsch, Altec Lansing, Advent, KLH, Athena, Jensen

If you just want excellent sounding home speakers, Paradigm are at the top of the list in my experience. Will probably make most mixes sound fine, including the not-so-great ones.

If you want incredible speakers that can be used for all listening of any kind, from theater, casual stereo, mixing, and mastering, then that is PMC.

I finally heard a set of Blue Sky loudspeakers.

They are a sub/satellite set. They look interesting and sound pretty good. The satellites are small, so they fit in a lot of places.

They are worth a look.
