take my breath away!!

Hi all,

I was recording a song with 5 different acoustic guitar yesterday. I managed to get a beautiful tone from the acoustics and they all blend and sit well together.

I used 3 mics on each take so I could use different combinations when it came to mixing.

One problem though, as the guitarist was picking very softly with his fingers as well as getting a beautiful guitar sound I also captured his breathing. Now, it's not that loud and if it was only one acoustic on a song with drums bass and vocals then it wouldn't be a problem, but with 5 tracks, all with breaths, obviously not in time with each other it sticks out like a sore thumb!

The arstist said he liked it and it helped create the haunting sound he was looking for, but I don't. If I can get rid of it from all tracks but one then I will be more comfortable with it.

So, how do I go about this with effecting the beautiful sound we got???
Is it even possible???

Cheers

It's probably possible with Cedar. Not the cheapest solution however...

Go and check if there is any other exact part in the song(guitars) where he don't make that breath sound.

for some reason, people tend to breathe louder when wearing isolated headphones, ear buds, or even ear plugs - whatever reduces the sensitivity of the ear to your breathing. If you're playing loud music through the phones, that'll do it too.

best thing i've found is to play the music/click quieter in headphones that aren't so isolated.

I've noticed this too, turning the volume does work. Telling the guy he's breathing too loud usually makes it worse...
