presonus cs digital question

hi

I have an issue with my presonus central station

when Im switching to toslink mode when using the digital inputs the meter shows clicks and pops..and I can hear the clicks if i turn the volume up loud..

is this normal?

I have tried toslink from my computer and spdif from my digi 002 vice verca

I use the toslink on my CS to connect to a CD player and noticed that if the CD player is turned off there are clicks and pops if I select the Toslink button.

This probably due to the optical cable not getting a clock source because the connected unit isn't turned on.

I also find the toslink connection btw my g5 and the cs to be very nasty playing back hot mastered audio.

well.. the clicks and pops shows up regardless of on/off status

I have tried to connect to both my pc and my digi002... same shit!

it bothers me when using the central station DA to compare cd`s with my mixes
