Thread Starter | cotton bass traps
I know that this has been discused many times but I would like to ask how thick should be a panel filled with cotton material of 100kg/m2 (6pfc, I think),first for a bass trap and second for mid-hi absorbtion. I want to use cotton instead of fiberglass and that's the only material I can find in Greece. Is there a diference between cotton products exept from density? Thank you in advance ,I have learned so much from this forum!... Kostas |

Kostas, > how thick should be a panel filled with cotton material of 100kg/m2 (6pfc, I think), first for a bass trap and second for mid-hi absorbtion. < 4 inches (or more) for bass trapping, 2 inches for mid/high frequency absorption. --Ethan

Kostas. If you have the luxury of going thicker, you can even use less dense cotton. Once you get to about 6" or more thick, 3lb equivalent will work pretty well. Solid corners can suffice with even less density. Bryan

I'm afraid I don't have that kind of luxury...Is there any problem If I use for all (bass traps and mid/hi absorbtion)4 inces panels or I must stick to 2 inches, for side walls and ceiling? Thanks for replying... Kostas |

You can use 4" for side walls. It will help with bass trapping also. Glenn
