Thread Starter | Sony 3348 and MADI
Here's a question about a moldy oldie. Does anyone know anything about the MADI card on the Sony 3348 (regular not HR). I recently got a mint 3348 to do some xfrs and it has a panel on the back that says MADI and has an in and out BNC connector. I tried feeding the output to an RME MADI box and got nothing. While it is possible that all the analog and digital outputs including MADI would be on at the same time, the MADI input would have to be selected, so I'm wondering if there's a switch somewhere for both the input and the output. I can't find anything on the deck that refers to MADI and the manual doesn't even show the panel. I looked at an HR manual and it has a switch for the MADI input . Course maybe the connector panel is always on the machine and the needed card isn't installed. If anyone has any thoughts, let me know....... thanks Mark |

Can ya throw in a pic of the deck selector panel. It's been years since using a non-HR. I believe once the card was put in it was active, so you'll just have to find the SDIF or MADI selector on the unit I believe. Thought it was under the glass panel on the right side deck.

thanks for the response. nothing for switching to MADI under the glass panel although that's exactly where the selector is on the HR version. Just two BNC connectors on the back panel between the remote control connectors, labelled MADI in and out. What's annoying is I can't find any mention of MADI in any of the manuals. Mark |

Did you setup the RME correctly ? There are different Madi-modes, 56 or 64 channels, of which the 3348 would conform to the 56ch version if I recall correctly. WT
