Thread Starter | ADAM S2a or P22?
Hello, I'm looking into getting a pair of ADAM monitors. My budget will get me up to the S2a's. I'd love to hear your personal experience with either of these or any ADAM monitor in that price range. At the moment I'm not considering any other brand (got a too good of a deal to consider other monitors) Currently my monitoring battery include NS-10's, Auratones and old 12" Tannoys. Thanks in advance! |

| A vote for the S2-A's
I notice you've already done lots of work on small monitors. Given that, I think you'll love the S2-A's. That hexcone woofer is worth the extra money, IMO. If you want to add a subwoofer later when finances permit, I can heartily recommend the Bag End Infra Sub 12 Pro. It works great with these. I bought five S2-A's for a surround monitoring setup, and now I almost never turn on my old standard Tannoy's anymore except to listen to the radio. David L. Rick Seventh String Recording |

I've been working with P22a's for the last couple years and in a well treated room their hard to beat. Very natural and detailed; great clarity in the mid-range. Every once in awhile I wish I had a sub, but so far I've been getting by pretty good without one. I will say that it took me a little while to get used the ribbon tweeters on the Adams which I think let you get away with a little more high end boost than plays well on other systems (although I think I'm in the minority with this opinion). |

Thanks for your replies guys. The local ADAM rep let me have the S2A for a few days at my studio. I was extremely impressed although I did miss some of the lower lows (My sampled VSL Pizzicato Contrabasses just couldn't be reproduced quite fatefully). I could probably handle it but I know my clients are going to miss it. So I ended up digging under the tree and come up with the extra $$ for the 2.5A's :-) I was that close to splurge and get S3A's but after reading many users comments I realized they may not work for my space as well, as it seems that they need about 3 meters of space from the listening position to really shine. Cheers |
